Terms of Service
Last updated 20 October 2026
jolr is about real friends making real plans. These terms keep it that way. We’ve kept them as plain as we can.
1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Practagon (Pty) Ltd (“we”, “us”), a company registered in South Africa, which runs jolr. They cover the jolr app and jolr.org. By creating an account or using jolr, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use jolr.
2. Who can use jolr
- You must be 18 or older.
- You may have one personal account, with details that are true.
- You can’t use jolr if the law stops you, or if we’ve removed you from jolr before.
3. Your account
Keep the email, phone number, Apple or Google account you sign in with secure. You’re responsible for what happens on your account. If you think someone else has access to it, email support@practagon.co.za straight away.
4. What jolr does
jolr helps you make plans and meet up with friends in real life. You can chat, plan events, share your calendar availability, discover things to do, and show friends where you are when you choose to.
jolr is young and growing. We may add, change or remove features. jolr is free. If we ever charge for something, we’ll show you the price clearly before you pay.
5. Your content
You own what you post on jolr: messages, photos, voice notes, plans and your profile. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, process and show that content to the people you share it with, only so we can run jolr.
This licence ends when you delete the content or your account. Copies other people already have, such as a message in their chat, stay with them. Only post content you have the right to share.
6. Community rules
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. Don’t use jolr to:
- harass, bully, threaten, stalk or intimidate anyone
- share hate speech, or attack people for their race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or similar
- share sexual content involving anyone under 18. We report it to the authorities.
- share sexual or intimate images of anyone without their consent
- share violent, graphic or illegal content, or encourage self-harm
- track someone, or share their location or personal information, without their permission
- impersonate anyone, create fake accounts, spam or scam people
- sell drugs, weapons or anything else that’s illegal
- break the law or infringe anyone’s rights
- hack, scrape, overload or reverse engineer jolr, or get around its security or limits
We may remove content and suspend or delete accounts that break these rules, without notice where that’s needed to keep people safe. We may share information with the authorities when the law requires it or someone is in danger.
7. Reporting and blocking
You can block people and report a person, message, plan or group in the app, or email support@practagon.co.za. We aim to act on reports within 24 hours, and we remove content and accounts that break these terms.
8. Location sharing and meeting up
Sharing your location is always your choice. You decide who sees it, and you can stop at any time. Only share it with people you trust.
Meeting people in real life has risks, and you’re responsible for your own safety. We don’t screen users, events or venues. In an emergency, contact local emergency services, not jolr. In South Africa, call 10111, or 112 from a mobile phone.
9. Events, venues and other services
jolr shows events, places, weather and suggestions from venues and other sources. We don’t organise those events or sell tickets, and we can’t promise the details are correct or that an event will go ahead. If you buy a ticket through a link, that purchase is between you and the seller, under their terms.
Signing in with Apple or Google, and links to other apps or websites, are covered by those companies’ own terms.
10. Businesses on jolr
Venues that publish events or specials through jolr for business must have the right to publish them, keep them accurate, and follow these terms. We review listings and may decline or remove them.
11. What belongs to us
The jolr name, logo, design and software belong to us or the people we license them from. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app for your own non-commercial use, under these terms.
12. Pausing or ending your account
You can pause or delete your account at any time in the app, under Profile → Account. We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or if we stop running jolr. We’ll give you reasonable notice where we can.
13. No guarantees
We work hard to keep jolr running and safe, but we provide it “as is”. We can’t promise it will always be available or free of errors, or that information such as locations, events, availability or weather is accurate.
Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, or any other law that can’t be excluded.
14. Our liability
As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost data, or what other users or third parties do, online or in person. Where we are liable, our total liability to you is limited to R1,000.
This doesn’t limit our liability for fraud, gross negligence, or anything else the law doesn’t allow us to limit. If someone makes a claim against us because of content you posted or because you broke these terms, you’ll cover our reasonable costs, as far as the law allows.
15. If you use jolr on an Apple device
- These terms are between you and Practagon (Pty) Ltd, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for jolr or its content.
- You may use jolr on Apple devices you own or control, as the Usage Rules in Apple’s Media Services Terms allow.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for jolr.
- If jolr fails to meet a warranty that applies to it, you may tell Apple, and Apple will refund any price you paid for the app. As far as the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for jolr.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for handling any claims about jolr, including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance, consumer protection, privacy, and claims that jolr infringes someone’s intellectual property.
- You confirm you are not in a country under a United States government embargo, and not on a United States government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must also follow the terms of any third party you use with jolr, such as your mobile network.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we’ll tell you in the app or by email before it applies. If you keep using jolr after that, you accept the updated terms.
17. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of South Africa, and its courts have jurisdiction. If something goes wrong, please email us first and we’ll try to sort it out. If you live in another country, you keep any consumer rights your local law gives you.
